Top Three Reasons I use Office Live Workspaces
Okay, so Office Live Workspaces contines to win me over. At first I was a bit skeptical--I wondered whether I'd use it, I wasn't sure I'd trust it, and I thought maybe it would be just another thing I'd have to remember to update. None of my hesitancies proved true. :)
I'm glad I use Office Live Workspaces because...
1. It reminds me when I forget. This morning I was updating my blogs and copied an updated version of a file to my ftp site. I wasn't even thinking about where else that file might appear (and it really bugs me to have 14 versions of the same file floating around). A prompt popped up over my browser window and reminded me that I have a version of that file posted on my Office Live workspace. Did I want to update that file with the new version I was copying? Yep.
2. It makes transferring files easy.I work with a total of four computers through the week, and it seems I am continually accessing and trading files. Among them, there are two different operating systems and three (count em, three!) versions of Microsoft Office. With my Office Live workspace, I gather the most recent versions of all the files I use regularly, and I can access them from any system, any time. Nice.
3. It's easy, even for people who aren't too keen on the whole workspace scene. I've been working on a collaborative project that brings together content from people at universities all over the country. Some are web savvy and some aren't; some have done a lot of collaboration and some haven't. Office Live Workspaces is easy to find and navigate, and I can post various kinds of files and comments to make sure all users have the information they need. And, once again, I can do that posting from anywhere (even my sunroom, like this morning). That's the clincher for me!
If you haven't tried Office Live Workspaces yet and have a need for easy-to-access file storage; simplified collaboration; and flexible design and organization (oh, I didn't even mention that part), check it out. It's free, and all you have to lose is a few minutes online. And you may just find something that really helps streamline your document-and-group-management tasks.
